M1097 Humvee Cargo version...
...a privately owned example seen at Duxford 2010
The Humvee entered service with the US Military back in 1984, Built by AM General it was designed to replace earlier types such as the M151 MUTT and other vehicles in the US Military inventory. It was originally intended to be a personnel and load carrier, not for front line combat. In the basic role it has been very successful, though when exposed to combat operations it has been found to be vulnerable to IEDs in particular. A wide variety of body types exist for an equally wide variety of roles, some armoured, some not. Still in production and to date over 250,000 Humvees have been built. Still in service for many years to come, there is a project looking ahead for a replacement, the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) programme.

In this case it is a privately owned example which was on display at the Military Vehicle Day at Duxford back in 2010. There are kits available in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/35 and as this gave the chance to get pictures inside and out hopefully these will be a handy reference
